Gaitore Chhatri is situated on the Jaipur-Amber Road. Thus is a royal cenotaph that was built in true Rajasthani art and architecture. The chhatris are made up of wonderful white marble and the sculpture and the architecture shows the talent that was very much visible in the work of arts like in by gone days. The chhatri was constructed Sawai Jai Singh II and is 1 kms away from the city of Jaipur. These chhatris used to act like rest house when the rajas and maharajas used to travel long distance. There are various other chhatris that tells the stories of the past. The chhatri and its wonderful sculpture show the lavishness of king and their life style. The chhatri means umbrella and the place bears the meaning as the resting place for the traveler.
Jal Mahal is an 18th century pleasure palace and is located in Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan. The palace is perched amidst Mansagar lake, Jal Mahalwhich is in turn nestled amongst the Nahargarh hills. The Jal Mahal Palace, Jaipur is noted for its sophisticated design and grand architecture. The Palace was developed as a pleasure spot and was used for the royal duck shooting parties. A causeway leads to Jal Mahal Palace situated in the middle of Man Sagar lake, opposite the cenotaphs. The first four floors of this building is under water, only the top floor remains outside. One can have a wonderful view of the lake and the palace from Nahargarh Fort Built in 1799, the palace is now abandoned, but reasonably well preserved.
Jawahar Kala Kendra is an arts and crafts centre located in the city of Jaipur. The centre is important not because of the nomenclature but its close association with the city of Jaipur itself. The centre was built in the year 1986 and the constuction completed in 1991. The centre was launched by the state government to provide space to the cultural and spiritual values of India and display the rich craft heritage. The centre is dedicated to the late prime minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru. The centre has been constructed in a manner so as to reveal the ideology of the ex-prime minister and Maharaja Jai Singh, the founder of Jaipur city. Like Jaipur the structure is built based upon ancient hindu treatise that is Shilpa Shastra. The centre in contemoprary times is also a venue of theatricaland musical performances.
Statue Circle Jaipur is well known traffic roundabout and a busy crossing here. The most remarkable thing about Statue Circle is that it is located in a very strategic location that half the town has to pass through it. It is known as Statue Circle because of the imposing and life - size statue of Sawai Jai Singh, the founder of modern day Jaipur holding staff and astrological diagrams, which occupies its heart. Ramgarh Lake is situated 25 km. from Jaipur, Ramgarh is popular for its huge artificial lake. The lake was created by constructing a high bund amidst tree covered hills. Ramgarh lake draws large number of tourists from all over Rajasthan. The white temple of Jamwa Mata and the ruins of the old fort are some of its antiquities, its stunning landscape, especially in monsoons, makes it an idyllic picnic spot. Other interesting options that you can try in Ramgarh are boating (October-June), trekking in the mountains, fishing, jeep driving to the nearby jungle, visit a carpet village and a marble quarry.
Jaleb Chowk: The fort has 4 sections; each with the premises and one has to climb up through the imposing stairway or else the broad aisle, where one can ride on the elephant back for royal feel. The main gate Surajpol that leads to the Jaleb chowk, which is the main courtyard from where one can walk up the stairway, that leads to the palace. Jaleb Chowk was also the area where returning armies were welcome and they would display their war earnings to the population at large. |
